چکیده

A field-integrated methodology using 3D ultrasonic tomography supported by close range photogrammetry (CRP) has been developed and evaluated as a tool to detect the presence patterns of decay forms in living adult holm oak (Quercus ilex L.) an urban green area city Cagliari, Sardinia, Italy. Close was used compute high resolution model studied tree, texturized with natural colors. Moreover, following implemented workflow process it possible evaluate deformation pattern tree over time. In second step our integrated approach, order diagnose state health inner part non-invasive way, laboratory situ techniques were applied. The results analysis optimal design oak. Ultrasonic is one most powerful non-destructive testing for full-volume inspection structure. It produced physical information on structure stem investigated tree. study show that application highly accurate objective evaluation external internal trees monitoring their conservation states. With fully diagnostic aimed prevent instability failure can be greatly improved.

Conservation of genetic diversity in artificially regenerated holm oak (Quercus ilex L.) populations

Reforestation with autochthonous species should take into account the preservation of the variability and the geographical structure of genetic diversity in forest species. In order to provide empirical data, genetic composition of an artificial population of holm oak (Quercus ilex L.) and its natural seed-origin population in Andalusia were analysed with six microsatellite loci. The genetic di...

A model to account for variations in holm-oak (Quercus ilex subsp. ballota) acorn production in southern Spain.

One of the characteristics of holm-oak acorn production is its high variability among individuals and years. To examine the main causes of this fact, a study was conducted from 1998-2010 in a natural area of holm-oak in southern Spain, where floral phenology, fruit production, fruit size, airborne pollen emission and meteorology factors were analyzed with the ultimate aim of developing a model ...

Drought tolerance and transplanting performance of holm oak (Quercus ilex) seedlings after drought hardening in the nursery.

Drought stress is the main cause of mortality of holm oak (Quercus ilex L.) seedlings in forest plantations. We therefore assessed if drought hardening, applied in the nursery at the end of the growing season, enhanced the drought tolerance and transplanting performance of holm oak seedlings. Seedlings were subjected to three drought hardening intensities (low, moderate and severe) for 2.5 and ...

Remobilization of acorn nitrogen for seedling growth in holm oak (Quercus ilex), cultivated with contrasting nutrient availability.

The relative contribution of nitrogen (N) reserves from seeds or uptake by the roots to the growth and N content of young seedlings has received little attention. In this study, we investigated the contribution of N from the acorn or uptake by the roots to the N content of holm oak (Quercus ilex L.) seedlings and determined if remobilization of acorn N was affected by nutrient availability in t...
